It's hard to imagine a more culturally alive city than Charleston. The city's love and passion for the arts dates back to 1731, when Charleston hosted the first concert series held in the New World. Charleston is a Living Museum
It is always exciting to live in a place that is rich with events, culture and history. If you are seeking great food, recreational activities, relaxing on the beach or all of the majesty of historical architecture. To this day you can find in historic Charleston a variety of magnificent churches, government buildings, plantations and houses that are uniquely designed with the flavor of the English past. It is for this reason that it is sometimes referred to as “Little London”.
Charleston's historic forts have been at the turning point of some of the nation's most important events. Ft. Moultrie was the site of the first decisive patriot victory of the American Revolution, and Ft. Sumter was the scene of the first shots of the Civil War.

Restaurants
Like the rest of Charleston's culture, the type of food served in the area resulted from a combination of influences. The English influence, of course. But the French, Italians, Africans, Caribbean Islanders and many others had a tremendous impact on what we eat, as well. The "melting pot" phenomenon simply made its way to the stove pot in kitchens across the region.
Golf
Over 200 years ago, Charleston was the site of America's first golf course and golf club. In 1786, the South Carolina Golf Club and Harleston Green were established in what is now downtown Charleston. In fact, the term "green fee" is thought to have evolved from the membership fees paid to maintain the course.
